Atlantia International Science Olympiad

The Atlantia International Science Olympiad is an international academic competition that aims to develop students' passion for science, interdisciplinary thinking capacity, and scientific research competencies.

The competition covers a wide range of topics from earth sciences to astronomy, from scientific method to environmental science. Participants have the opportunity to demonstrate a holistic scientific perspective that combines multiple scientific disciplines.

Organized in a multi-stage format, the olympiad begins with national qualifying rounds and successful candidates compete with peers worldwide in the Global Tour. Successful students may earn academic scholarships, university admission advantages, and international exchange program opportunities.

Science Olympiad Subject Areas

Exam questions are prepared from the following six core areas of science.

Earth Sciences

Geology, mineralogy, plate tectonics, volcanism, earthquakes, rock cycle and Earth's internal structure.

Astronomy

Solar system, stellar evolution, galaxies, cosmology, celestial mechanics and observational astronomy.

Scientific Method

Hypothesis formation, experiment design, variable control, data collection, analysis and scientific reporting.

Environmental Science

Climate change, biodiversity loss, water cycle, carbon cycle and sustainable development.

Interdisciplinary Science

Intersection points between physics, chemistry and biology; energy transformations and materials science.

Data Analysis

Scientific graph reading, statistical evaluation, error analysis and experimental result interpretation.

1st Round — National Qualifying

National-level assessment with 20 original science questions prepared on the basis of standard deviation.

Bloom's Taxonomy

Questions are prepared according to Bloom's Taxonomy, covering the stages of knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.

Percentile Ranking

No scoring system is applied; results are announced based on percentile ranking. Students who achieve above the 50th percentile qualify for the Global Tour.

Global Tour — World Final

Students who pass the 1st Round National Qualifying Exam earn the right to participate in the Global Tour.

National Qualifying Round

To participate, students must pass the 1st Round and be included in the international participation package organized by Atlantia International.

Exam Format

Prepared with the same methodology as the national round, standardized on an international level with 20 questions.

Achievements and Awards

High School Seniors

Earn scholarships or direct university admission support. Gain the right to attend an 8-week English academic program at Italian universities, recognized as academic credit.

Lower Grade Students

Earn the right to participate in international student exchange programs. Gain academic, cultural and social experience in different countries.

Organization & Participation Package

Students participating in the Global Tour are required to obtain the official participation package prepared by Atlantia International.

Ethical Rules & Exam Security

Exams are conducted with international standard security protocols.
Electronic devices (phones, tablets, smartwatches) are not allowed in the exam hall.
Any cheating or misconduct will result in disqualification.
All questions are prepared and reviewed by an independent academic committee.
