Test your life sciences knowledge from cell biology to genetics, from ecology to human physiology on an international stage from national qualifiers to the Global Tour.
The Atlantia International Biology Olympiad is an international academic competition that aims to develop students' passion for life sciences, analytical thinking capacity, and scientific research competencies.
The competition covers a wide range of topics from cell biology to genetics, from ecology to human physiology. Participants have the opportunity to demonstrate both theoretical knowledge and scientific reasoning skills.
Organized in a multi-stage format, the olympiad begins with national qualifying rounds and successful candidates compete with peers worldwide in the Global Tour. Successful students may earn academic scholarships, university admission advantages, and international exchange program opportunities.

Exam questions are prepared from the following six core areas of biology.
Cell structure, organelles, cell membrane dynamics, cell division, cell signaling and cellular respiration.
Mendelian genetics, DNA replication, gene expression, mutations, inheritance patterns and genetic engineering.
Ecosystem dynamics, food webs, biodiversity, population ecology and conservation biology.
Nervous system, circulatory system, respiratory system, digestive system, endocrine system and immune system.
Bacteria, viruses, fungi, protists, microbial genetics and infectious disease mechanisms.
Natural selection, adaptation, speciation, phylogenetics, evidence of evolution and population genetics.
National-level assessment with 20 original biology questions prepared on the basis of standard deviation.
Questions are prepared according to Bloom's Taxonomy, covering the stages of knowledge, comprehension, application, analysis, synthesis, and evaluation.
No scoring system is applied; results are announced based on percentile ranking. Students who achieve above the 50th percentile qualify for the Global Tour.
The exam includes multiple question types and measures comprehensive biology knowledge.
Questions that measure conceptual understanding of biological processes and mechanisms.
Questions requiring multi-step analysis and inference based on real-world scenarios.
Four-option multiple choice questions designed for rapid conceptual assessment.
Quantitative questions requiring graph, table and experimental data interpretation with statistical analysis.
Participants may choose one of the following exam languages.
Students who pass the 1st Round National Qualifying Exam earn the right to participate in the Global Tour.
To participate, students must pass the 1st Round and be included in the international participation package organized by Atlantia International.
Prepared with the same methodology as the national round, standardized on an international level with 20 questions.
Earn scholarships or direct university admission support. Gain the right to attend an 8-week English academic program at Italian universities, recognized as academic credit.
Earn the right to participate in international student exchange programs. Gain academic, cultural and social experience in different countries.
Students participating in the Global Tour are required to obtain the official participation package prepared by Atlantia International.
Additional services (city tours, cultural excursions) may be added optionally.
